Please note: Tameshigiri (cutting using real katana) is not allowed anymore due to police restrictions. Hence, only the Masters will perform Tameshigiri, but students will not practice cutting with real katana.

3 days Weekend Camp:

 The camp training may be divided into 2 groups:
teens (~17) & adults (18+).

Uniform is included.


Sharehouse Accommodation:

Stay in traditional Japanese housing, with tatami mats and comfortable futons (with extra cushion mattress).

Western rooms with beds available too.


Minimum age 14+
(Children below 14 can be considered, if they are independent enough.
Consultation with parents required.)

Sharehouses are separated between males and females.


 

Meet Your Katana Masters

Master: Hiroyuki Yashiro

Began his career in the performing arts, after devoting himself to kendo in his youth.
He has appeared in movies, on TV, and on stage, performing a wide range of activities from sword fighting, action, stunts, dance, and musicals, and has also been involved in film production.
He trained in kobudo (ancient Japanese martial arts) at the same time as his acting career.

Yui

Yui studied kendo in junior high school and theater in high school, and studied the Method Acting technique and psychosomatic training.

She has appeared on TV, in magazines, advertisements, and on stage.
In parallel with her acting career, she studied kobudo under Master Yashiro.

Together with Master Yashiro, they founded “Bugeido MUSUBI” and serves as the representative, performer, and instructor.

Dom

Started Katana under Hiroyuki and Yui when they moved from Tokyo to Akita. Dom is the CEO of Akita Inaka School and holds a black belt in Katana.

Started Katana after moving from Tokyo to Akita. Mia is a Japanese language teacher for both foreigners and Japanese nationals.
