Why Students Keep Coming Back to Akita Inaka School

At Akita Inaka School, a Japanese language school in rural Akita, many students return not just once, but again and again.

Some come back during a different season to experience another side of rural Japan, while others return to reconnect with the local community and friends they met during their first stay.

Our program combines practical Japanese language learning with authentic cultural immersion. Students have opportunities to interact with local residents, participate in community activities, and experience everyday life in the Japanese countryside.

For many participants, Akita becomes more than a study destination. It becomes a place where they build meaningful relationships, improve their Japanese, and create memories that last long after the program ends.

Below, you'll find stories and interviews from our students sharing their experiences and explaining why they chose to come back.
