Akita Inaka School Terms and Conditions

Cancellation/Refunds

The initial deposit (50% of the tuition fees) is non-refundable (except COVID case described below), as it is used for the arrangements of accommodation and the activities with local providers.

However, students are allowed to change the booking to any future courses within 24 months of the original booking without additional fees (a written notice of minimum 30 days before the course starts is required).

If a student is not able to enter Japan due to COVID travel restrictions or visa denial, a full refund will be provided or a choice of rescheduling to future courses.

If a student is not able to stay for the whole duration of the course, or is expelled for violation of the law or school regulations, there are no partial refunds.

Accommodation

Students live in Japanese share houses and should follow the local customs (a list will be provided on the first day of school). In particular:

a)     Students should take care of tatami mats – drinking and eating in a room with tatami mats is not allowed. Even a small drop of water will damage a tatami mat. The cost of 20,000 JPY replacement fee will be charged for each tatami mat damaged due to food/liquid consumption.

b)     Visitors of any kind are not allowed to stay in the house overnight (unless the school gives permission).

c)     Pets are not allowed inside the house.

Privacy Policy

The school is not sharing students’ personal details with any third parties (unless required by the local law) except for the accommodation owners, activity organizers, or Kosaka Town Hall.

Passports

The school will collect a copy of every student’s passport on the first day (it is a Japanese Government law requirement for every foreigner staying in an organized accommodation).

Video/Photo consent

The school from time to time will record some photos and videos of the events and school activities (for promotional purposes – social media - as well as for the students to have access to it). If a student does not wish to be included in such content, he/she will need to notify school staff at the beginning of the course and may not be able to participate in some activities where photo/video recording will be scheduled.

Insurance

Every student is required to have travel insurance (unless they are Japanese residents with local health cover), that covers minimum $50,000 hospital expenses in case of any accident. Local or credit card insurances from the home country will not be accepted unless clearly stated the type of insurance, amount covered, claim procedure, exclusions, countries covered, insurer details and person insured.

Insurance details must be provided prior the arrival.

These Terms and Conditions will be governed by the laws of Japan.
